Story Time at the Library

Moreland at 845-3281. Guest storytellers welcome. Monday's
closed in 2006: May 29 (Memorial Day), September 4 (Labor Day), and December
25 (Christmas).
Summer Reading 2006 - Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales!
Kick off party, Thursday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. - Pet
Carnival.
Show off your favorite pets, both real and real-to-you varieties welcome.
Balloon art with LuLuBell the Clown, meet Maizie the therapy reading dog,
make crafts and enter our silly pet show!
Fridays, June 2 - July 28 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. -
Lunch Time Movie.
We'll show a G or PG-rated children's movie in the Community Room and you're
invited to bring your lunch and eat while you watch.
Thursday, June 8 at 9:30 a.m. - Abe Buddish and his
Angora Goat, Sandi.
Abe is a 10-year old 4-H'er from Leavenworth who shows Angora Goats.
He'll bring in Sandi and tell us about how her coat can be used to make
yarn.
Thursday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. – Prairie Park Nature
Center, “Kansas Wildlife.”
Learn about the different animals from our State, their habitat and see some
up close and personal. From Lawrence Parks and Recreation.
Thursday, June 22 at 9:30 a.m. – Nichole Allen and
Shannon Smith and their 4-H Dogs.
See some dog obedience, a safe-approach program, and some freestyle dog
dancing!
Thursday, June 29 at 9:30 a.m. – Rainbow Fish Craft
Project.
Decorate a big fish with scales and markers, then stuff it and hang it from
the ceiling!
Thursday, July 6 at 9:30 a.m. – Operation Wildlife,
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigated.”
Learn more about how OWL diagnose and treat injured animals.
Thursday, July 13 at 9:30 a.m. – Reno Bobwhites 4-H
“Cats, crafts and more cats!”
Meet the cats, play some cat and mouse games, and make a great craft.
Thursday, July 20 at 9:30 a.m. – Bongo Barry,
“Looking for Wild Things.”
Bongo Barry goes looking for Wild Things as he involves you in Maurice
Sendak’s story, Where the Wild Things Are. The Rumpus features Bongo Barry’s
treasure chest of musical instruments for everyone to play.
Thursday, July 27 at 9:30 a.m. Priscilla Howe, “The
Best (and Worst) of Beasts.”
Quack, woof, oink, roar and more! Storyteller Priscilla Howe tells her
favorite animal tales, with a little help from her ridiculous puppets.
Saturday, July 29 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. – Wrap-up
Party and Petting Zoo.
